  17. <p>     It didn't take long for the vultures to get wind of the
  18. financial collapse of Nutri/System. Heavy debt forced the diet
  19. center to close its headquarters and 283 company-owned
  20. weight-loss clinics. As Nutri/System struggled to find a buyer,
  21. its competitors ran ads to lure the company's customers. Jenny
  22. Craig offered to sign up abandoned calorie counters at "no
  23. additional service fee," while stressing that it is "a
  24. debt-free, $500 million company." Weight Watchers told
  25. Nutri/System customers, "Don't worry." At week's end Heico
  26. Acquisitions of Chicago tentatively agreed to manage the firm
  27. while seeking to buy it. The deal must be approved by a
  28. bankruptcy judge.
